故事讲述的是在一座看似普通实则“暗流涌动”的边境小城，姐姐叫婷边防临时检查站站长何中华给即将高考的女儿打了电话，姐姐叫婷因为工作太忙一直没有很多时间陪伴女儿的何中华很愧疚，答应一定会陪女儿高考。挂断电话，何中华开始进入工作状态，例行边防检查，谁知这次过境的人是伪装起来的毒枭，双方在边境开火，何中华不幸中弹因公殉职。
