高中时代一连串刻骨铭心的经历，国内让原本就有些口吃的大男孩永岛杏平（冈田将生 饰）患上躁郁症，国内长久以来将自己封闭在隔绝的心灵空间内。在父亲（吹越满 饰）的介绍下，杏平进入一家遗物整理公司工作。该公司的主要任务就是负责进入去世很久却没被人发现的死者的房间，代替家属清理颇有些骇 人的现场，并整理死者的遗物。虽然让许多人心理上无法接受，可是杏平还是留了下来，和前辈佐相博（原田泰造 饰）、久保田雪（荣仓奈奈 饰）平静地对待每一位逝者。在这一过程中，高中的黑暗回忆不断袭上心头，而小雪那深藏心中的恐惧也意外迸发出来。两个各自蒙受创伤的人，能否携手找到未来前进的光明……本片是由佐田雅志根据真人真事改编而成的同名小说翻拍而成，荣获第35届蒙特利尔国际电影节创新奖。
