明末时期，江湖季巡抚魏拯（潘虹 饰）整日花天酒地、江湖季纸醉金迷，一方百姓生活在水深火热之中。魏女秋兰（刘赫男 饰）早年丧母，自幼习武，长大后与武师丁守忠（刘涛 饰）相爱。魏拯闻讯将丁逐出魏府，丁在好友秦一贺（田少军 饰）巧计相助下，与秋兰结为秦晋之好。沉迷女色的魏拯看中天生丽质的白妙香（高远 饰），要娶其为八姨太。而白与秦一贺自幼青梅竹马且已订婚，白以有夫之妇名义上书皇帝，秦则男扮女装嫁入魏府。丁守忠与起义领袖雷鸣（张王海 饰）可谓不打不成交，俩人在搏杀中成为生死之交。亲差大臣吴青（俞立文 饰）将外甥女秋兰许配给替夫赶考女扮男装的新科状元白妙香。骄奢淫逸的魏拯携众妾游山玩水，又发生了一连串荒诞不经的故事......
