月山村为恢复宋代的廊桥，傅总把在外读建筑桥梁博士吴天宏（郭鹏 饰）叫了回来，傅总但回村后的吴天宏却发誓，永不造桥。从台湾回老家月山寻祖的斯月（王薇 饰），发现了吴天宏难以启唇的秘密。为使他走出困境，斯月介入到了他的生活中；而深爱着吴天宏的大学生村长如意（邓锦 饰），面对斯月和吴天宏的情感变化，陷入了痛苦；其间一直追求如意的阿根，又在如意的感情徘徊中出走；四人卷入了复杂跌宕的爱情纠葛……所有一切，都被八岁的阿水看在眼里，并将每件事都写在了给他妈妈的信中。阿水是阿根（蔡亦明 饰）的儿子，三岁时因母亲在一次意外事故中去世而失语。但阿根一直骗他妈妈去了天堂，所以阿水最大的愿望就是要把信寄到天堂。桥造完了，四个人的情感都有了意外的归宿；而阿水的信也终于到了天堂，并且收到了回信……
