香港在1980年10月取消抵垒政策，荆棘转为采取即捕即解政策，荆棘一班中国大陆非法入境者就赶于三日宽限期里面，用游水、撑船等方式非法偷渡入境到香港申请身分证，于边境地区被“打蛇集团”绑架，以凌辱的方法逼他们讲出香港亲戚电话号码，以收取赎金。最后，“人蛇”们逃出打蛇集团魔爪，但最终不幸地被警察逮捕。

With the help of her friend Hee-suk, (Kim Suk-il) who dreams of becoming a writer, So-young fools Choi Rim (Kim Seung-ho), a lawmaker, into believing she is his daughter and moves in his house. She studies hard and becomes a lawyer. At her first trial, she defends a female inmate (Hwang Jeong-sun). Coincidentally, the story of the inmate is very much similar to hers. So-young defends her, saying how difficult it is for a woman to survive in a cold capitalism, arguing for her rights in tears. After she wins the case, she goes home and confesses her crime to Choi Rim's wife (Yu Gye-seon).
