回复 :陈焕文（任达华），家境富裕，留学外国。返港初期，在父亲的公司任职副经理，但事事受到制肘，未能一展所长。更加上文一直立志从事教育事业，於是不顾家庭反对，毅然辞职，怀着一腔理想，加入教师行列。文与世叔叶兆堂（冯淬帆）任教同一官校，堂执教鞭多年，工作热诚已减，处事但求无过，而文则积极进取，两人作风大相迳庭，因此时起冲突。 但事有凑巧，文因工作关系结识堂妹静珊（庄静而），珊清丽可人，文一见倾心，展开大力追求，却遭堂之强烈反对，加上堂子舜荣亦从中作梗，处处与文为难，令珊对文更有所顾忌，日渐疏远。荣自小得父母疼爱，无心向学。後转读文任教的一班，行事越加放肆。文虽因静珊事对堂父子俩耿耿於怀，但仍悉心教导荣。惜荣并不领情，反而处处与文作对，令文啼笑皆非。
