回复 :简素华（王丹凤 饰）和实习医生沈浩如（李纬 饰）是一对恋人，沈希望早日与小简结婚，留在大城市生活。而简素华却甘愿服从组织分配，支援祖国边疆建设。来到边疆的第一天晚上，她在简朴的宿舍里写下了走向新生活的日记。然而理想与现实是有差距的，工地医务站站长莫家彬（傅伯棠 饰）和护士顾惠英（蒋天流 饰）只顾恋爱而忽视了工作，工人们意见很大，而简素华的到来又令莫家彬对其大献殷勤，引起了顾惠英的误会。小简忍着内心的痛苦与不快，积极努力的工作，她的工作热情赢得了广大工人的称赞，也引起工区主任高昌平（汤化达 饰）的好感。沈浩如突然来到工地，要接简素华回上海结婚，其结果俩人不欢而散。规模宏大的工厂落成后，高昌平将率领队伍奔赴新的建设工地，临行前，他向简素华发出了邀请......
